Boopreel effects
Turn your pet into a little ghost for Halloween
Spooky Ghost is Boopreel's Halloween effect: one photo of your pet becomes a 5-second video of it in a tiny ghost costume, doing a peekaboo wiggle while jack-o'-lanterns glow. It's cute, not scary, and it works on dogs, cats and other animals.
What happens in the clip
A tiny white ghost costume with two cut-out eye holes drapes over your pet's back like a little cape, leaving its face and ears in view. Your pet does a playful peekaboo wiggle while small jack-o'-lanterns glow nearby. The camera stays still and your pet keeps its own fur colors and markings.
We changed this effect on 27 October, the day after it came out. With the first version, on a photo of a tabby kitten lying under someone's jeans-covered leg, the jeans turned into the ghost and the kitten disappeared under them. The version live now keeps the face and ears in view.
About this sample
Made on 27 October 2026 with the current version of the effect, on Boopreel's own video worker: 81 frames at 16 frames a second, 5.06 seconds.
We tested the current version on three photos. The corgi above and a golden retriever looked good: a clear little costume, the face in view, pumpkins at the feet.
On the tabby under jeans the cat's face stays in view at the end, but the jeans become part of the costume and the camera drifts.
Photos that work
- Pick a photo where nothing lies over your pet. In our tests, the jeans lying over the kitten became part of the costume.
- We tested this version on a corgi, a golden retriever and a tabby kitten; the two dogs, photographed in the open, came out best.
- The effect stays available after Halloween, like every Boopreel effect once it's out.
Ask for it in ChatGPT
Attach the photo in the chat, then type one of these:
- "Use Boopreel to turn my dog into a little ghost"
- "Use Boopreel to make a Spooky Ghost video of my cat"
- "Do the Spooky Ghost effect with the same photo"
- Open the Boopreel listing and add it once (no account, nothing to sign in to).
- Attach a photo of your pet and ask for Spooky Ghost. Naming Boopreel helps ChatGPT pick it instead of drawing a still picture.
- The clip plays in the chat in about a minute, or a few minutes when the video machine has to start first. Tap Save video to download the MP4 or share it from your phone.
Good to know
- Every clip is 5 seconds long, has no sound and carries a small "Boopreel · AI" mark, plus a tag in the file saying it was AI-generated.
- Each person can make 3 clips a day. Refused photos and failed clips don't count, and the count starts again at midnight in your time zone.
- Boopreel works in ChatGPT in the US and Canada.
- Animals only: a photo with a person's face in view is refused, and a person far from the pet is cropped out.
- Photos can be JPEG, PNG, WebP or iPhone HEIC. Photos and clips are deleted after 30 days, or at once when you ask ChatGPT to delete your Boopreel clips.
- Spooky Ghost came out on October 26. It's this week's new effect. The next new effect arrives on November 9.
Questions
Is it scary?
No. The costume is a small white sheet with eye holes and the pumpkins are friendly; the clip is meant to be cute.
Can I still make it after Halloween?
